Organisation for Innovation and Sustainable Development (OISD) as a non-governmental, non-profit organization was incorporated in May 2014 in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Guided by the belief that every life has equal value, the OISD works to help empower women, youths and the girl-child to live healthy and productive lives. It is a body focused on the all-around development of the individual especially those who belong to the vulnerable group.
In the North-East, it focuses on improving people’s lives and giving them the chance to lift themselves out of hunger and extreme poverty. It also seeks to guarantee that everyone, especially those with hardly any resources have access to the opportunities they need to succeed in education and life.
OISD is geared towards improving the standards of living, health outcomes for children and women by promoting a strong culture of preventive and quality improvement measures in healthcare provision. This is advanced by supporting good communication of essential health information, relevant topical research information, conducting relevant seminars in addition to the provision of immunization information and directing patients to suitable referral portals for consultations.
The organization works to reduce inequities in Nigeria, especially in the North-Eastern states that were hard hit by Boko Haram Insurgency. It focuses on improving health and alleviating extreme poverty. It supports programmes related to education via the creation and execution of skill acquisition, basic literacy skills and self-reliance skill programmes, using several strategies.
